Search Engines
The web has grown since ARCHIE, the first search tool used to search the Internet. Search engines today have advanced way beyond the earlier search tools: Aliweb, Archie, Veronica, Jughead and the web robot, JumpStart. Earlier searches were limited to searching indexes and file titles, but as the World Wide Web search engines have evolved and become increasingly powerful. Today's search engines do not just search indexes and titles but search the full-text and involve searches that crawl, search and index the content.
